Dr. Manal Khan is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Khan received her medical education from Sindh Medical College/Dow University of Health Science, Pakistan She completed her residency training at University of Washington, Seattle where she served as the Chief Resident of Recruitment and Wellness and graduated with the Outstanding Resident Award and received distinctions in global mental health and cultural psychiatry, advanced psychotherapy, and perinatal psychiatry. She completed her Child Psychiatry Fellowship at UCLA and served as the inaugural JEDI Chief for the fellowship. During her fellowship, she also served as the Co-Lead of the Community and Professional Development Committee for the UCLA Minority House Staff Organization. Dr. Khan has received additional training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. She is currently enrolled in the Max-Gray Fellowship at UCLA through which she is developing further expertise in pediatric mood disorders.

Dr. Khan serves in various clinical roles at UCLA. She works on the child and adolescent inpatient unit (4 West) where she supervises trainees and medical students. She also works with trainees through the Child & Adult Neurodevelopmental (CAN) Clinic. Dr. Khan also sees patients through the faculty practice and Max-Gray Fellowship. In addition to these clinical roles, Dr. Khan serves as the Associate Program Director for the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship and Director for Fellow’s Psychotherapy Clinic. Dr. Khan also serves in various leadership roles both locally and nationally. She is the co-chair of the IMG Caucus at the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She serves as the Representative of Underrepresented and Minority Groups at the Southern California Psychiatric Society and as the Chair of Training and Mentorship Committee of Pakistani American Psychiatrists of North America. Her areas of interest include psychotherapy, immigrant mental health, trauma, and bringing justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) principles to medical education and healthcare. Dr. Khan is passionate about training the next generation of psychiatrists and therefore remains heavily involved with medical students, residents, and fellows locally at UCLA, and nationally and internationally through various psychiatric organizations.
